Speech-less

(My group mates - Me, Seyen, Philip, Gary's missing cause he had class)

Speech class has finally ended. I'm pretty relieved to be honest. not because i still have speech jitters, but preparing for a speech is pretty tough i would say!

I would like to thank my group mates for being such wonderful people. Without them, I'm sure our final speech would have reached no where.

Although Philip was always late for meetings, didn't finish his work, but somehow, every single time he would get away with it. I don't know why, he just has this face that makes you unable to get mad at him! haha. But his brilliant speech delivery today somehow repaid our efforts though xD

Apart from the heavy workload to get the final speech outline drafted, I had quite a lot of fun because i was giving a speech on a topic i was enthusiastic about - A New Generation of Voters.

In speech class, I met many new faces. And we've all turned into friends since. Something i would like to express my feelings with in this post. (its not ''emo'' , don't describe me with that term, i just hate it) Well, basically it's how i feel. So bare with me for a little.

Hundreds of people walk by us every single day, but how many of them actually turn out to be close friends of ours? (shit, speech class has really gotten into me, i even use speech techniques in writing a sentence in my blog! ) erm, the point I would like to make is, that friends are rare and its not often you find friends close enough to you to share everything with.

Therefore, erm... close friends are rare -___-'

Let me continue with a story.

R was in form 1, and R was very close friends with this other boy. They went to recess together, played table tennis together (although R always got his ass kicked by his friend), and enjoyed each others company (not gay la ..!..). Then R's close friend fell in love with this girl, he asked R for help. R did help him, but to no avail. Soon in time, the girl fell for R instead. (R too charming already, cannot blame)
Oh well, R was pretty uncertain at first. But, there was this table tennis competition at that time. R's close friend then joined, R didn't (cause he sucked too much in table tennis, although he improved later on and was capable of playing like a PRO) ok, that's not the point.

So as R's close friend went for the competition, R took the chance and got together with the girl his close friend liked. WTF! dam 'jin kak' right? (I also cannot tahan) But R was so darn stupid, despite the fact that he was just 13 yrs old, he thought he could actually hide his relationship with the girl from his close friend. -.- (R was such an imbecile, i know)

Yes, his friend soon found out, was so pissed with R, and they never talked to each other since.

Dear readers, yes, you've guessed it. R in the story, was me. (duh, R=Roy)

I'm only telling this out in now in detail after so many years, is because i am too ashamed about it to speak of it. Whenever someone asks if i have any regrets in my life, yes, this is the one regret i have and that i will never forget. How stupid could i be? tarnishing the friendship i had with a close friend because of a girl. It wasn't worth it. I hope i could make up to him somehow, for my actions, but i just don't know how. We hadn't talked to each other since form 1, and i don't know his whereabouts today. Sorry is the only miserable word I can mutter out this moment.

True friendship is like sound health; the value of it is seldom known until it be lost."
- Charles Caleb Colton

The reason i told you all this story, was because I wanted to tell you how important friends are to us, and how a simple misunderstanding can cause this valuable bond to break in an instance (though the above story wasn't a misunderstanding, its has d same connotations xD)

(Tim and carien missing here, but they're still included in the story hehe)

For this past week, I was kinda sad. Sad because I'm afraid this same thing might happen to be again. Just recently, among our clique of friends in college, one of us has given us all the cold treatment. Probably because of a little misunderstanding, or some other reason, i don't know. But i am willing to take blame if things would get back to as before, a time where all of us had no secrets, where we joked about each other more freely.

Eu-Roy you look so short today! Yerr Eu-Roy you wear like beggar lah today! Eu-Roy your the laziest person i ever met!!!!! Eu-Roy that girl will never like you lah come on! Eh Eu-Roy please lah, get a prom date for god's sake you lonely freak! WALAU eu-roy u got EX-girlfriend before ah? UNBELIEVABLE LEH!

...
These are the jokes that really strengthen the bonds we have
. Something I will surely miss if we can no longer talk about all these things.

For of all the million's of people that have passed by me through my lifetime, God has given us the opportunity for us to be friends, not strangers we once were. Hopefully, nobody or nothing will be strong enough to take what God has given to us away.

Each friend represents a world in us, a world possibly not born until they arrive, and it is only by this meeting that a new world is born."

A laughing stock

The time to board the plane to US draws nearer and nearer day by day, its less than a month now.
Everything still seems so yesterday, yet its almost time to leave my country after 18 years.

18 years, Malaysia has provided me with shelter, love and care. But i sympathize of it's current condition.

Politicians are bickering every second. and our leader sits by the side, enjoying all these drama as he tries to re-fortify his position as the country's leader.
The people wants him to leave the throne, not satisfied with his leadership. In return, he blames bloggers for contributing to this country's downfall as he runs out of reasons.
He sets the year 2010 for his aide to take over. If it happens, i dread to think of what shall befall our nation.

Corruption is wide spread in the country, the Anti Corruption Agency(ACA) takes no action. When people start scrutinizing them, suddenly out of no where, they successfully nab 2 high ranked immigration officers.
Poor immigration officers, of all the corrupted politicians, they are sought as the scapegoats of the whole political system.

T
alking bout the ACA, i remember seeing 'The Sun's front page, showing statistics of how the ACA has performed over the years. i kinda forgot the exact statistics, but its awful i tell you.
Its kinda like of thousands of alleged cases reported, only a few hundred are looked into, 10% of the hundreds detained, and another 1% of the 10% detained was prosecuted.
But then i flipped The Star, and i couldn't even find the same article in it. surprising?
Yes, this has been the case. Much of our media does not report what supposedly will 'tarnish' the image of our government.

I tuned out to TV3's midnight news yesterday, after the Anwar Shabery debate.

Guess what i saw. There were highlights of the debate, highlights of questions being asked to both Anwar and Shabery, and also highlights of Shabery answering the questions. And nothing on anwar. Was Anwar a bad speaker? i felt he pummeled his opponent in the debate though. But why aren't the news reporting it? Are they trying to protect our information minister, Shabery? freedom of press konon.

All this worries me. Our politicians have recently also issued some sorta warning to US stating our sovereignty asking them to keep their hands off our matters. ouch. Why can't our politicians keep a low profile huh, our country's politics are already a laughing stock, and they still try to make matters worst by doing all these.

Imagine if this happens to me when i reach Iowa.

Ang Moh : hi!
Eu-Roy : hi.
Ang Moh : nice to meet you, where you from?
Eu -Roy : nice meeting you too, I'm from Malaysia.
Ang Moh : oh! i know Malaysia! it is one of the countries in the world with the highest corruption rate right?
Eu-Roy : ...............................................
